There is no substitute for experience. Most consulting firms however, seem to stand this notion on its head. If you were to draw a diagram of all their personnel, it would look like a pyramid. They have a few experienced senior people at the top and an army of junior people at the bottom. They use this “pyramid” structure when they assign individuals to address a client’s most important issues.
At Value Improvement Associates, we believe in “inverted pyramids.” That is, we believe that client teams should be staffed with the most highly experienced individuals we can find. We employ no junior staff. Our personnel average 20 years experience either as consultants to or directly in the industries they serve.
